Ninemsn will stay with its current hosting provider Hostworks for another three and a half years.
A "multi-million dollar contract" will see Hostworks continue to provide ninemsn with hosting services to at least the end of 2013. Ninemsn has been a Hostworks customer since 1999.
Hostworks also serves the ABC, carsales.com.au, Grays Online, Network TEN, realestate.com.au, SBS, SEEK and Ticketek. The company copes with peaky traffic to customer sites by providing on-demand infrastructure rather than dedicating hardware to specific clients.
"Ninemsn required a hosting services partnership with an organisation that could meet the future changing needs of online media and high volume content delivery. At the same time, we were looking for the flexibility to manage services from our shareholders, Microsoft and PBL Media," said Dean Capobianco, commercial and operations director at ninemsn.
"Hostworks have met our requirements through the development of a service portfolio aligned to best practices," he added.
Hostworks managing director Paul Mullen said "We are delighted to be working with our foundation customer ninemsn."
Hostworks is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Broadcast Australia, which owns and operates Australia's national TV and radio transmission network. Broadcast Australia is in turn owned by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
