Teradata delivers data warehouse to Star Track Express

IT Industry - Deals

Logistics and transport company Star Track Express has selected a Teradata data warehouse.

We're not told how much it's going to cost, but the Qantas/Australia Post joint venture Star Track Express has chosen Teradata to supply a data warehouse system to unify its currently disparate SQL Server implementation.

Implementation of the Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse and the Transportation and Logistics Logical Data Model will be carried out by a joint project team from Star Track and Teradata over the next six months..

"We have developed one of the world's smartest and most advanced delivery and freight management systems, and now with Teradata as the cornerstone of this significant information systems project, we will be able to further extend that leadership," said Star Track CEO Derek Lightfoot.

The project will give the company a single view of its information, allowing better decision making and the introduction of new and improved services for customers, he added.

"The transport and logistics industry here in Australia and right around the world is under immense pressure to evolve and become more customer-oriented, while keeping their costs as low as possible," said Alec Gardner, industry consultant director, Teradata.

"It is the providers, such as Star Track Express, that will leapfrog their competition by investing in advanced business intelligence and active data warehousing to make better and faster decisions," added Gardner.
