TelstraClear outsources IP network maintenance to IBM

IBM New Zealand has scored a multimillion dollar, three-year contract from TelstraClear to manage critical maintenance and support services for TelstraClear's all IP backbone network.

IBM says it will also "provide TelstraClear with architectural leadership, regression testing capabilities, and quality assurance around implementations of new services and equipment" and will "leverage its global expertise to help resolve situations where detailed troubleshooting and analysis methods are required."

TelstraClear, however, will continue to manage maintenance and support for basic issues and faults relating to its 8,600 kilometres of fibre cable in New Zealand.
