CSC contract extension with Bluescope

Global IT company, CSC has had its IT services contract with Australia's BlueScope Steel renewed for a four-year base period and two additional two-year options, with the vendor continuing to manage and deliver services, including consulting, applications development and support, disaster recovery, systems integration and end user services on a variety of technology platforms.
BlueScope Steel CIO, Andrew Baker said the services provided by CSC were 'critical, cost effective services' to support the fundamental operational systems crucial to BlueScope Steel's business.
'We have been pleased with our relationship with CSC through the term of the last contract. They continue to support us well in a difficult business environment. The further cost saving initiatives and service delivery improvements we plan to deliver with CSC are important to us. This new contract recognises the benefit of working with CSC and we look forward to continuing our relationship.'
President and CEO of CSC Australia, Nick Wilkinson, said, the company was 'delighted that BlueScope Steel extended its relationship with CSC,' adding that 'a strong client relationship now and in the future will enable CSC to provide innovative, new technologies to maximise business efficiency and transform operations.
'Having worked with BlueScope to achieve significant results over the last nine years, we will continue to deliver price transparent competitive services and a robust governance model to ensure the success of the ongoing relationship.
'This extension comes at a time of downturn in the steel industry, demonstrating both CSC's commitment to the relationship through the turbulent times of the steel industry cycles, as well as BlueScope's recognition of CSC as their preferred long term IT service partner in the Australia/New Zealand region.'
Baker said CSC had provided similar services to BlueScope since May 2000 and is the company's largest provider of IT services across Asia, NZ and North America.
