CSIRO picks Sitecore CMS

CSIRO has adopted the Sitecore CMS for its staff intranet after rejecting open source alternatives.

Australian national science agency CSIRO has chosen the Sitecore CMS for a project aimed at consolidating 28 intranet sites into one.

The new site will deliver personalised, role-specific information to the 6500 CSIRO staff members.

"The new CSIRO intranet will create a one stop shop for employees, where they can easily find the information they need to get their job done efficiently as possible," said Catherina O'leary, CSIRO's manager of internal and online communications.

A key requirement was that employees should be able to add content to the site, bypassing the traditional 'webmaster' role.

"The flexibility of Sitecore's technology, its intuitive interface and proven integration capabilities provide the ideal platform to help us achieve CSIRO's vision for internal communications," said Stephen Lord, general manager for NSW and ACT at Next Digital, the Sitecore partner selected to implement the CSIRO's system.

Sitecore will also be used for other purposes at CSIRO - see page 2.
