Victorian DSE sticks with Logica for spatial information management

The Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment has renewed its spatial data management contract with Logica for a further three years.

Logica will continue to manage and maintain the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment's (DSE) Vicmap Land Administration Themes (VLAT) system.

Used by a variety of government, civil and private services - including the emergency services and digital mapping organisations - VLAT stores address and property data.

The contract has been held by Logica since 1005, and the company has won a further extension following a competitive bid process.

"It is vital that the Victorian State Government has the most reliable data as this information is relied upon by local and national businesses, councils, and the general public," said Paul Sargeant, government industry director, Logica Australia.

"Effective management of this data means that Victorian communities can trust in services that rely on maps, whether it's needing a quick response from emergency services or simply looking up a street address," he added.

Logica officials estimate the value of the contract renewal is more than $A5 million.
