Global online travel group, Expedia Affiliate Network (EAN) has cemented a partnership agreement with BigPond under which Expedia becomes the white-label provider in Australia of travel bookings for BigPond Travel.
Under the multi-year partnership, Expedia says visitors to BigPond Travel website are able to book Expedia’s “extensive selection of flights and more than 114,000 hotel properties across the globe,” and can also combine the flight and hotel options to create their own “flexible, dynamically packaged holidays all without leaving BigPond Travel.” Bookings can also be made over the telephone.
According to Expedia managing director, EAN APAC, Jens Uwe Parkitny the partnership comes as BigPond “commits to building a compelling and content rich travel channel on its network, which also includes sports (with exclusive online rights across NRL, AFL, V8 Supercars and group one horse-racing), TV and news channels, as well as music and movie downloads, DVD rentals, health information, job news and online dating.”
Commenting on the partnership, Telstra media director, Chris Taylor said BigPond was looking forward to working with Expedia and “accessing their breadth of product to build an even more compelling channel.”
“The flexibility and responsiveness shown by EAN during the negotiation and set-up phase of this partnership made them a strong fit. With this partnership we’re aiming to create an even better experience for our customers that also benefits advertisers looking to reach a travel audience.”
According to Taylor, the partnership focus is on the “strong value and great price deals available from Expedia on BigPond Travel.”
Parkitny said that for Expedia the Australian market is a “clear area of focus for EAN and we have a team in the region dedicated to building the company’s business footprint.
“The strength and flexibility of the Expedia product offering was key in securing the partnership with BigPond Travel. EAN was able to develop a bespoke solution that met the future aspirations for the BigPond travel channel and work with them to ensure a fast and effective integration. The size and scale of the EAN offering and our proven track record in providing highly successful white label solutions for companies across the globe is unrivalled.”
