The largest hospital group in Victoria has selected a locally developed pathology management system despite competition from multinational providers such as GE.
LRS Health has been selected by Southern Health to provide a pathology management system.
Southern Health is the largest hospital group in Victoria, with more than 40 sites including five major hospitals. It uses around 1.5 million pathology tests a year.
LRS Health's MediPath system automates pathology workflows.
"The MediPath system allows clinicians to order tests straight from the patient's bedside, the system then takes the specimen and via a completely automated system, interfaces with over 50 different highly sophisticated laboratory analysers for the results," said LRS CEO Andrew Edgley.
"Test results are then returned via LRS Health's secure messaging service, AllTalk, not only to the requesting clinician but also to other parties involved in the patients care, for example their GP," he added.
