AdultShop to get Kinky mobile content

IT Industry - Deals

Loop Wireless, which claims to be the Australian leader in "3G mobile social networking" has entered into a conditional agreement to be acquired by AdultShop.com Limited.

It claims that the proposed acquisition will fast-track its international expansion, "with the potential to bring the award-winning 3G mobile social networking product, Kink Kommunity, to Europe and the United States."

Kink Kommunity - which recently won the award for the best mobile/wireless product at the Australian Interactive Media Industry Awards - has been available to users of Hutchison's 3 network since October 2005.

Users pay a monthly fee to access interactive, web-like content via their mobile phones, and according to Loop Wireless "much of the content [is] generated by users themselves, such as photos, videos and commentary." However it is all moderated by Loop Wireless.

AdultShop's current operations are "focused on the adult entertainment industry, and include online, retail, wholesale, party plan and phones service operations." AdultShop has operations in Australia, New Zealand, USA and Germany.

Loop Wireless is looking to take Kink Kommunity to a global market, with a release of the product in the UK, expected to go live by the end of April, 2006. By mid 2006 the company aims to join Australia and UK Kommunity members in an integrated and real-time social networking forum.

"This acquisition will further allow Loop to bring our 3G mobile social networking product to a more global community," said Loop Wireless's CEO, Gavin Bullen. "The expertise we have developed to moderate and produce the content, as well as understanding what works with our target audiences, will prove invaluable in expanding our offering beyond Australian users."

Loop Wireless will continue to trade as a wholly owned subsidiary of AdultShop.com.
