EDS appoints Fuji Xerox in $4.8m outsourcing deal

IT Industry - Deals

Fuji Xerox Global Services (FXGS) today announced a new five-year, $4.8 million document production outsourcing agreement with EDS.

The contract will see FXGS provide Managed Output Services (MOS) to deliver a strategic management service for all document production requirements in EDS, increasing business control, user productivity and reducing costs.

Fuji Xerox will create a print infrastructure for EDS by proactively managing all devices, providing detailed device utilisation analysis and reporting as well as integrating help desk support.  Fuji Xerox will also replace EDS' existing print equipment with new technology to output documents, the majority of which will be multifunction (print, copy, scan, fax) devices.

Under the contract, EDS will streamline its equipment from 324 devices across multiple vendors to 75 managed by FXGS.

An additional feature of the agreement will be the establishment of a print centre to manage all of EDS' high-volume document production requirements
.
Xerox Corporation's Managed Output Services capability is a core element of the rationale behind EDS' Agility Alliance partnership with leading technology companies.  In addition to FXGS providing Managed Output Services to EDS, EDS will be delivering the MOS offering to the market both as a stand-alone service and an integral part of EDS' Workplace Services offering.

Fuji Xerox's agreement with EDS is expected to reduce print and administration costs for EDS by up to 26%t, while increasing productivity and freeing up IT resources.  It will run until 2010.

Chris Mitchell, EDS vice president for Asia Pacific South, said the choice of Fuji Xerox Global Services was based in part on EDS' partnership with Xerox. "This is a significant agreement struck between EDS and Agility Alliance partner Xerox," Mr. Mitchell said.  "Fuji Xerox Global Services has the knowledge and expertise to understand our requirements and implement the best and most cost-effective solution."

Phil Chambers, managing director for Fuji Xerox Australia said:  "This is an important contract win.  Not only does it reinforce our partnership with the  Xerox EDS Agility Alliance, but it also highlights FXGS' ability to deliver costs savings and help improve the efficiency of an organisation's document processes, even one with the established outsourcing capabilities of EDS."
