Enterprise software provider Mincom has gone live with its B2B solution at Maritime System Division of the Australian Department of Defence (ADF).
The e-business solution is aimed at helping ADF to improve the electronic exchange and visibility of data between its trading partners. Mincom Axis aims to give ADF, which processes approximately two billion transactions per year, improved asset visibility and vendor autonomy by providing better integration with its maintenance vendors and trading partners.
Mincom Axis provides a B2B integration solution or e-hub that enables organisations to engage in electronic exchange of data with its trading partners. Brigadier David McGahey of the ADF, said, "Secure electronic enablement of payment processing and purchase ordering will improve order accuracy, visibility of order status, shorten processing time, and reduce cost per order. This will increase supply chain efficiency and helps us to report to government on our assets accurately."
Ian McDonald, Mincom senior vice president of defence, said, "We are in the first phase of the project which focuses on integrating spare parts and consumables, giving ADF electronic availability of its order and payment activities. The second phase will focus on integrating equipment maintenance systems such as work request information exchange with ADF's heterogeneous ERP systems designed to support common defence logistics environment."
Mincom has formed a separate Defence division, which will function as a separate business unit.
The dedicated Mincom Defence team consists of technology architects, developers and strategists, product managers and sales people who will focus on working with and fast tracking technology development for the defence industry exclusively. This includes defence specific research and development (R&D) funds, service level agreements (SLAs) and collateral development specific to the defence industry.
Under the Mincom Defence model, a common global defence industry solution is being developed with input from other defence organisations across the globe via military user groups.
Think again. Most businesses only have PART of a DR plan - and this spells business disaster in the event of an IT disaster.
