WA IT services vendor wins contract with Chinese-owned group

IT Industry - Deals

Listed Western Australian IT services vendor, Empired,  says it has accelerated its east coast expansion with a major, multi-million dollar contract win with the Melbourne-based, Chinese owned, Minerals and Metals Group (MMG).

Empired (ASX:EPD) says the new contract follows a quick succession of contracts wins, worth a total of more than $5 million, with the Victorian State Government’s Department for Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and another with Victoria’s St Barbara Mines Limited.

Empired managing director, Russell Baskerville, said MMG is the world’s second largest producer of zinc as well as a substantial producer of copper, lead, gold and silver, and the contract with MGM is for a three-year term with two one year options to extend.

“Contract pricing is based on the size of the infrastructure and metrics around the quantum of services provided, allowing the flexibility for services to be quickly increased to meet forecast growth across MMG’s international operations.”

Baskerville said that, under the contract, Empired will provide a service desk and a range of other IT managed services such as desktop and change management, and that, in addition to the base contracted services, the company will also provide project services relating to MMG’s IT systems and infrastructure.

“Empired is currently executing a number of business critical projects for MMG relating to the implementation and migration of IT infrastructure and systems required to operate assets recently acquired through a major transaction with OZ Minerals Limited.”
