IBA wins $6.6m hospital contract in Thailand

IT Industry - Deals

eHealth technology provider, IBA Health Limited (ASX:IBA), has won a $6.6 million licence and services agreement to implement IBA’s patient management and clinical solutions system at Siriraj Hospital located in Bangkok, Thailand.

The contract for the delivery of IBA’s administrative, clinical and electronic health record technology is to be delivered over the next two years. After a 12 month warranty period, a maintenance contract is to be entered into which is estimated at an additional $1 million a year.

Siriraj Hospital is Thailand’s oldest and largest hospital and is a leading tertiary referral and teaching university hospital with 2,636 beds servicing 1.6 million outpatients and 80,000 in-patients annually.

The implementation of IBA’s technology is a key component of the University Mahidol - Faculty of Medicine’s, strategic plan to develop Siriraj hospital as a centre of excellence for medical care and biomedical research in Southeast Asia. The hospital itself is now beginning its transformation plan to become a regional and international E-hospital.

IBA’s Administrative, Clinical and Electronic Health Record solutions will be used by health professionals at Siriraj Hospital to develop and improve the quality of medical services, support research, care giving and the creation of patient centric health records. IBA’s integrated systems will facilitate the creation of linkages with medical facilities at regional and international levels allowing Siriraj to expand its role as a hub for the delivery of medical care within the region.

Austrade’s Bangkok-based Trade Commissioner, Ian Davey said “IBA’s achievement in winning the Siriraj Hospital open tender is an excellent example of how highly innovative Australian service providers can succeed against international competition.”

“IBA is a relatively small IT company by international standards and to be seen as the best provider by a major Thailand hospital in this sort of field is testament to the credentials of both  IBA’s ability and to Australian credibility,” Mr Davey said.

“Their success highlights to the business community that Australian IT companies can compete successfully in the SE Asian region and that major tenders can be won.

Steve Garrington CEO of IBA Health said “the decision by Siriraj Hospital to select IBA’s Administrative and Clinical solutions in an open tender demonstrates the global competitiveness of our solutions. IBA is now well poised for driving profitable growth from this region through our “high value” integrated health solutions and regional delivery capability. Siriraj Hospital will join a growing list of over 420 international and local public and private sector hospitals using IBA systems.”
