Enterprise systems management vendor, Quest Software, has secured a contract with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to implement Foglight, an application management solution that Quest says lowers operational costs and reduces application downtime.
Quest managing director, Laurence Cole, said
today that the win was a “significant contract” for the company and
that the nature of AMSA and the work it does “highlights Foglight's
reliability and suitability as a monitoring and diagnostic solution in
this mission critical environment."
AMSA is a largely self-funded government agency responsible for
enhancing efficiency in the delivery of safety and other services to
the Australian maritime industry, which operates 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, and Cole said the company’s Foglight solution provides a
“reliable holistic monitoring and diagnostic application management
solution.”
According to Cole, unlike other application management solutions,
Foglight provides a strong analytic interface “increasing visibility
for stakeholders and letting information technology managers diagnose
the root cause of application issue,” and also “retains historical data
required for trend analysis and future planning.”
AMSA’s UNIX and Oracle database administrator, Chamu Chitsungo said the
implementation of Foglight has already assisted the authority in
lowering the operational costs of manually managing applications while
at the same time mitigating the risk of downtime, “which is
particularly vital as AMSA is a largely self funded organisation.
"Foglight has also reduced the risk and cost of downtime to its daily
business operations. As AMSA operates 24/7 with operations including
marine environment protection, search and rescue, shipping safety,
shipping registration and marine qualifications down time is not only
expensive but life threatening in this mission critical environment."
