BigAir buys OzEmail iBurst customers, extends IPO deadline

IT Industry - Deals

BigAir Group subsidiary, Veritel Wireless, has taken over the management, support and billing of over 3000 OzEmail iBurst wireless broadband customers.

BigAir, a Sydney-based operator of a fixed point-to-point wireless broadband access network, says all customers have now been migrated to the BigAir core network and billing systems. Managing director, Jason Ashton said that the acquisition put BigAir ahead of schedule for its target to reach 10,000 customers by November 2006.

The move follows BigAir Group's recent acquisition of Veritel Wireless and precedes the company's upcoming listing on the ASX. BigAir lodged its prospectus with ASIC 20 October 2005. It aims to raise $10 million through the sale of 42.5 percent of its shares and says it will use the funds to expand its fixed wireless broadband network - which presently covers only Sydney - into other capital city and metropolitan markets across Australia.

The offer was due to close on 30 November but has been extended for two weeks to allow the newly acquired customers the opportunity to invest in the company.
