Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
The directors of recently-listed dark fibre specialist. Pipe Networks, say they expect 2005/06 earnings to be between 100-120 percent over the previous year's net profit after tax (NPAT).
Managing Director, Bevan Slattery, said: "The increase in expected earnings is a result of the company's aggressive network expansion and strong customer demand for our dark fibre services. As corporate and government Australia comes to understand how dark fibre can offer higher levels of security, reliability and scalability when compared to existing 'managed' telco offerings, we've seen a high level of demand for our dark fibre offering. In particular, there is great interest in the areas of disaster recovery, outsourced data centre services and clients seeking secure, high speed inter-office connectivity."
Pipe Networks has announced that construction has commenced on two new fibre rollouts in Brisbane and Sydney. The Greater Springfield-Brisbane dark-fibre network will be a 79,000 cable metre circumference network ring for South East Queensland's Western Corridor.
The greater Sydney area fibre optic network will significantly expand the company's existing network footprint and is due for completion in December 2005. It will extend from Mascot to Parramatta to Chatswood in a diverse ring design with over 40kms of cable. The Sydney network will consist of fibre optic cables with between 216 and 624 fibres made in Australia by Prysmian (formerly Pirelli Cables).
PIPE says it believes its 624 fibre cable to be the largest core count loose tube fibre optic cable ever installed in Australia.
The company says it has already secured key customers including carriers, government and corporate clients on the network.
