Telstra US picks Nortel IP telephony for new HQ

Telstra's US subsidiary, Telstra Inc, has deployed a converged voice and data network from Nortel at its new US corporate HQ at 40 Wall Street in New York City.

Equipment deployed includes the Nortel Business Communication Manager 400 IP PABX - which provides gigabit ethernet to the desktop - IP Phone 2000 series telephones, and ethernet routing switches that provide power over ethernet.

"Deploying a converged voice and data infrastructure will help our US employees communicate effectively and work more collaboratively," said Andrew Morawski, senior vice president for sales and marketing, Telstra Inc. "With this solution, our workers are able to rapidly get in touch with each other and with customers by whatever method is most effective -- voice calls, instant messaging, e-mail or conferencing. This approach helps improve our productivity while reducing network costs."
