Research company, Gartner, has rated Telstra the number one IP-VPN provider in Asia. The assessment criteria include: reliability, performance, support installation and repairs, range of options and pricing.
In its report, Gartner says: "Telstra has...significantly improved its support capabilities, one of its weak points in the past, because of its geographic distance from the key regional hubs. It has increased local support in key markets, improved its processes, and built new support systems to improve its network and service management capabilities."
Gartner also praised Telstra's joint venture capacity wholesaler, Reach saying: "Reach is strong in high-capacity services, because of its superior regional connectivity, especially for links to China...Reach has good geographic reach. It also has abundant capacity, which translates into better network performance..
Telstra says, globally it increased the number of IP-VPN customers by 53 percent in the past year and that Telstra Global Business overall grew 67 percent last year.
Telstra says it now has over 225 multinational corporation (MNC) customers using its global IP-VPN, including such blue-chip names as Bloomberg, Hewlett-Packard, Sun Microsystems, Morgan Stanley and Woodside Petroleum.
