Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Westpac has selected Telecom New Zealand in a $NZ100 million deal to provide and support information and communication technology infrastructure for its New Zealand operations for the next five years.
The deal encompasses all of Westpac New Zealand's business and includes data connectivity, voice services, contact centres, Internet, extranet, remote access, mobile integration, service management and transition management.
Telecom NZ subsidiary, Gen-I, will play a key role in delivering TNZ's commitment under the contract.
Westpac NZ managing director, Ann Sherry, said: "In Westpac New Zealand's results announcement I highlighted the importance of customer satisfaction as a driver of our future growth. Alongside continuing to make improvements in this all-important area, we have opportunities to deliver further improvements in our efficiency of operation, and our partnership with Telecom supports that approach."
The two companies say they believe the deal to be one of the largest contracts for the provision of telecommunications ever in New Zealand. It is the culmination of a nine-month tender evaluation.
