MessageLabs, a global provider or email filtering services, is to acquire Omnipod, a privately-held provider of enterprise instant messaging services based in New York.
MessageLabs says the move would expand its product portfolio to inlude "a comprehensive suite of managed email, web and instant message services for customers to help ensure the security, compliance and availability of all electronic communications over the Internet."
Omnipod currently provides a secure, managed instant messaging and communication platform to hundreds of enterprises worldwide. This will be integrated into MessageLabs product portfolio and sold through MessageLabs' 800 channel partners worldwide. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
