By last year, Earth Hour had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights, and with global landmarks such the Sydney Opera House, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all standing in darkness for the entire hour.
This year Earth Hour says it’s taking the campaign to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of what it calls ‘a global vote’, with over 74 countries and territories pledging their support to Vote Earth during Earth Hour between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Saturday, 28 March.
And, if you want to sign up now to take part in Earth Hour, as well as getting useful tips and tools to reduce your carbon footprint every day, go to the Earth Hour website and register - Sign Up Now .
