Data loss a growing concern says CSC

And, Lawrence Ostle, director, global security solutions, CSC Australia says Australia’s regulatory requirements are still significantly lighter than those of their North American and European counterparts, which paves the way for Australian businesses to implement appropriate DLP mechanisms on their own terms and timelines before regulations are mandated.

“In particular, Government and federal clients in Australia are looking to leverage the intelligence of DLP services and technologies to help them manage their compliance requirements,” he claimed.

“With DLP services, federal agencies can be provided with the assurance that the implemented controls and business processes are working efficiently and effectively.”

CSC says its DLP solution, powered by Symantec’s technology, provides clients with a comprehensive, flexible and customisable service that supports data-related regulatory compliance requirements for global organisations and a range of industries.

According to CSC, the solution, which includes centrally managed DLP capabilities, prevents
sensitive data from leaving a client’s network through e-mail or Web services, blocks the copying of such data to USB devices, CD/DVDs and local drives, as well as preventing it from being electronically printed or faxed.

James Menendez, vice president of CSC’s global security solutions organisation, says the solution expands the options that enterprise businesses have to address, what he called, “this ever-increasing challenge.”
