Pirelli Cables & Systems becomes Prysmian

Following its acquisition by Goldman Sachs Capital Partners on July 28th this year, the former Pirelli Cables & Systems has now been renamed as Prysmian Cables & Systems.

The company's focus on power and telecommunications cables will continue. It operates in five continents with 52 production units and employs 12,500 people in more than 20 countries. Turnover in 2004 was approx 3.5 billion Euros. The company gave no hint of how it had arrived at its new name.
