Anti-virus vendor, Sophos, and Sun Microsystems have struck a development and reseller agreement, in which Sun will become an accredited Sophos reseller and will add Sophos products to its price list.
Sophos supports the Solaris 10 Operating System and uses the new platform in its global R&D infrastructure. The SophosLabs facility at the company's regional headquarters in North Sydney plays a part of the 24/7 infrastructure, where security issues are researched and threats eradicated.
Sophos’s use of Sun hardware and software is being made possible under a Sun partner program, 10 Moves Ahead, which gives Sun’s ISV partners and commercial developers the opportunity to learn about and adopt the latest features and technologies of the Solaris platform.
“Solaris is one of the platforms of choice for our customers worldwide,” said Rob Forsyth, Sophos’ managing director for Australia and New Zealand. “New tools available in Solaris 10, such as DTrace or Dynamic Tracer, give us technical insights which translate directly into unique benefits for our customers.
“The new blanket reseller agreement - which enables Sun to sell all of our products - is an important milestone for Sophos both in Australia and globally. We’ve always collaborated well in the past as a Sun ISV partner, but with Sun now reselling our software we have an opportunity to work closer than ever before.”
