Customs announces new records management contract

IT Industry - Deals

Australian Customs Service has inked a contract with LogicaCMG for the supply, implementation and support of an Electronic Document and Records Management System.

The contract is worth $4.1 million over three years and supports the Customs Records & Information Management System (RIMS) Project.

The tender for this system was released in November 2005. Following evaluation and contract negotiations, LogicaCMG has been chosen to implement the EDRMS using Open Text Corporation's LiveLink ECM-eDocs software.

Customs CIO Murray Harrison said that in its first phase during the second half of 2007, the EDRMS would replace a 20-year-old legacy application for the management of Customs physical files.

Electronic document management will be implemented as a second phase during 2008.

"When fully implemented, the RIMS Project will ensure record keeping in Customs satisfies legislative obligations and contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations," Mr Harrison said.
