In a statement the two companies said: "The collaboration and innovation partnership, led by Carl-Henric Svanberg and Sol Trujillo, will involve the establishment of an Ericsson/Telstra joint management team as well as technology leadership and market development forums with participation from key technology and business executives. "Ericsson will continue to include Telstra with key roles on Ericsson global user forums and support Telstra participation in global industry forums and/or standards bodies."

They added that: "The MoU applies to the Ericsson and Telstra global businesses and will provide the opportunity to pursue competitive advantage through collaboration across all aspects of the global business of Ericsson and its affiliates including its current technology solution domains of: network infrastructure (mobile, transmission and broadband); telecommunications services; and multimedia services.

According to Svanberg, "Telstra will be able to leverage Ericsson’s significant R&D resources, which includes 20,000 granted patents and R&D engineers." Trujillo said: "This agreement sets a framework for us to further collaborate and explore opportunities involving new technologies and early market adoption trials.
