Acer and Dataflex complete $10 million DEWR contract

Deals

Acer Computer Australia, in partnership with reseller Dataflex, has completed the primary rollout of 4500 Personal Desktop Computers at the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR). The contract has an overall value estimate of $10 million.

The roll out ensures the departments 4,500 seats across Australia are upgraded with Acer Veriton PCs and LCD's over the next 3 years, with 2,500 units rolled out since September 2005. The contract with DEWR also includes Acer management of the SOE for the department as well as asset tagging and image loading. The rollout has been carried out by Dataflex outside of normal business hours to provide zero downtime for the department.

Dataflex, in conjunction with Acer, is also providing the Department with a decommissioning program which will dispose of their old PC hardware that will be replaced as part of the rollout. The Acer Integration Centre, located in Lidcombe, Western Sydney, is able to process 150 to 200 machines each day, decommissioning them to the agreed in-confidence level of the Department.

Dataflex General Manager, Andrew Gersbach, says of the program, "The rollout timings were especially important to DEWR as downtime is something they cannot afford. So the Acer and Dataflex offering was especially attractive, providing zero downtime installation with hardware that is complete with the image loading and asset tagging."

Mike Cefai, Acer Government National Sales Manager for Acer said,"Acer is the number one government PC vendor in Australia and Dataflex, in its 19th year of operation, has been recognised by Acer as its Government Partner of the Year.  Dataflex is one of the top IT suppliers to the Federal Government across Desktops, PDA's and Networking Systems.  The proven track record that Acer and Dataflex share, with clearly defined and demonstrated capabilities, has enabled us to continue to win large rollout contracts such as DEWR."
