Yandex, the leading search engine in Russia and the world's fifth largest search engine, is using Nimbula Director as part of its private cloud infrastructure.

Yandex operates a private infrastructure-as-a-service cloud, and using Nimbula Director - software for building public, private or hybrid clouds - provided the company with several advantages.

They include allowing QA engineers to parallelise testing procedures, providing developers with self-service access to resources, and allowing the secure sharing of objects between different teams.

"Quality assurance is a big part of our improvements, that's why we need a reliable, flexible and easy to maintain solution to support our development process," said Vlad Seliverstov, chief of advertising services operation at Yandex.

"We have an in-house private cloud system and we have tried a few open source and proprietary solutions to improve our Infrastructure-as-a-Service environment.

"Nimbula Director meets all our requirements and lets us dramatically cut the time for testing and deployment."

Nimbula was founded by the team that developed Amazon EC2.
