A new workforce logistics application for the tracking, checking and mobilising employees will deliver considerable efficiencies for companies with a large mobile workforce, says it developers, Australian cloud consultancy PRM.

PRM Chief Executive Leigh Kelson said the aptly named micloud.com solution will deliver efficiencies because of the visibility it offers and the time saving, particularly in industries where employees are continually on the move such as mining and construction.

'Micloud.com manages the compliance of every individual's skills and competencies. It automates employee processes such as registration, induction and training as well as travel and accommodation requirements,' he said.

'It not only tracks your own employees but also contractors. Most companies are monitoring these people on Excel spreadsheets. There is usually no centralisation of the data. This leads to issues such as having 50 people arrive at a site but not having enough accommodation for them.

'Micloud.com enables all this information to be stored in one location for instant access. It provides real time reporting improving visibility and reporting.

'Being able to certify, validate and check staff is an essential but a very time consuming job. Micloud.com provides visibility to project and construction managers, health and safety managers, HR and contract managers, general managers and CEOs. They no longer have to wait days or weeks for updated reports on where their staff are.

'Live reporting dashboards enable project managers or contractors to view and manage data for their specific purpose.'

Mr Kelson said with the demand at unprecedented levels for mining and construction staff in Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland, micloud.com offers a solution that enables employers to manage employees better.

'This is about being able to move people from one place to another as efficiently as possible. If a company needs 72 welders in Karratha and the information is on Micloud.com, the workforce can be moved so much quicker because the checking is done. They will know that their certificates have been checked, that their visa is valid.

'One of the top two risks for any major mining project is labour shortages. More and more skilled workers will be coming in from overseas and it will be important to know if they have the right certificate and how does it stack up compared to Australian standards? How is the person's English skills? If they say they can operate a 300-tonne crane what certificate does he have and has it been checked?

'Safety is paramount on these sites. We know from past figures that for every one million man hours performed on a project there is usually one death. This is not only tragic for the person and family but for his friends and the company.

'Reducing risk is one of the biggest issues on a construction or mining site. Micloud.com will ensure that the people on site are who they say they are and have the right work experience and qualifications.'

Micloud.com works equally as well on major projects involved thousands of employees or managing mine maintenance on smaller mines that are shutting down.
