Home Entertainment Netflix extends downloads to Android microSD cards

Late last year Netflix opened up its app to allow for download for offline viewing. While aimed at desktop use, it has been popular on Android and iOS devices as well.

But most smartphones and tablets only have 16GB or 32GB storage and there is precious little left over for an HD movie that consumes about 7GB – acceptable SD quality only takes 1.5GB.

The new version of the app for Android now supports microSD storage and playback but Apple users are protesting – there is no support for microSD on any iOS device!

Content is only playable via the Netflix app and offline content is time limited so one will not be able to store movies or shows on microSD and just leave them there to watch much later.
