IBM SmartCloud Desktop Infrastructure is a tested bundle of hardware, software and services. Various System x servers can be used as the hardware platform, with virtualisation software from Citrix, Virtual Bridges, or VMware.
Early adopters include Panasonic's Corporate Information Systems Company Asia Pacific, and The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, where senior manager Mizuhiko Tokunaga said the system provides support for more software types and also prevents an application failure from bringing down the entire system.
IBM can provide assistance with assessment, planning, design and implementation of desktop virtualisation projects.
