HP's guaranteeing to double VMware virtual server density when customers install 3PAR storage.

When organisations purchase an HP 3PAR storage system along with 3PAR Optimisation Suite and 3PAR System Reporter, the company guarantees to double to total virtual machine workload on the existing physical servers, providing VMware vSphere 4.1 or higher is in use.

If that isn't achieved, HP will provide the additional disk capacity plus software and support needed to reach a doubling of the virtual server density.

"To manage exponential data growth, organisations need a storage architecture that can meet their requirements without increasing data centre size and maintenance expenses," Gary Green, VMware's vice president, global strategic alliances. "HP's Get Virtual Guarantee Program, leveraging high-performance HP 3PAR Storage and VMware cloud infrastructure, can help our customers maximise physical resource utilisation and drive down costs."

HP officials claim the offer is an industry first.
