Parallels simplifies private-label remote backup provision

The integration of BackupAgent with Parallels Automation makes it easier for cloud providers to offer private-label backup services.

If Parallels means anything to you, it's most likely to be in terms of virtualisation software, especially for Mac OS X. But the company also has a significant business in the hosting and cloud services industry, with more than 650 customers and partners in Australia and New Zealand alone.

A key part of that business is Parallels Automation, which as its name suggests is a set of products for the automation of provisioning, server management, service delivery and so on.

The company now claims that the integration of Parallels Automation and now Parallels Business Automation Standard with BackupAgent's online backup service has enabled multi-million dollar sales growth for their customers.

BackupAgent provides a remote PC and server backup service for SOHO and SMB customers, and integration with Parallels products makes it easy for operators to resell the service.

"Parallels Automation has slashed the manual processes of integrating our software with billing and provisioning systems from one to two weeks down to a few hours," said Roland Sars, co-founder of BackupAgent. Another attractive feature for resellers is that BackupAgent can be offered as a private label product.
