Fortinet boosts FortiWeb security features

The latest update to the FortiWeb web application firewall provides several new features.

Fortinet has upgraded its FortiWeb web application firewall with extra security features.

FortiWeb appliances combine web traffic acceleration, load balancing and filtering in one box. The new 4.0 MR2 firmware provides a web vulnerability scanner with monthly updates to help achieve and maintain compliance with the PCI DSS 6.5 and 6.6 specifications.

Other improvements include protection against remote file inclusion attacks, the ability to mask credit card numbers in server replies, Radius authentication, scheduled and automatic FTP backups, and an import/export tool for security policies, with the ability to automatically clone policies.

"Web applications are an essential foundation for conducting business today which is why organisations now place a premium on protecting highly sensitive and regulated Web application data,' said Michael Xie, founder, CTO and vice president of engineering at Fortinet.

"The consequences of compromised web application data can be devastating.  Identity theft, corporate espionage, financial fraud, negative impact on brand equity and the potential for a backlash in customer loyalty are just a few examples," he added.
