IT services firms and creative agencies are being invited to outsource their web development work to a bunch of Geeks.

GeekIT Solutions, a newly-formed arm of the GeekIT Group provides a virtual web development operation to firms and individual professionals. The idea is that such businesses can offer web development as an integral part of the services they provide their clients, but the work is actually done by GeekIT Solutions.

The sites are based on a proprietary CMS and features such as shopping carts and SMS integration are available when needed. Group managing director Mary Henderson emphasised compliance with standards and the need to avoid a cookie-cutter approach: "A new style sheet is created for every website, we do not try and fit a design into pre-existing wireframes."

Ad hoc projects and ongoing partnerships are envisaged, but GeekIT Solutions also expects to deal directly with business customers that want to outsource their web development tasks.{moscomment}
