Melbourne, 13 February, 2007 - Sterling Commerce, the multi-enterprise collaboration company and a subsidiary of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), has announced the appointment of Paula Matthews as Asia-Pacific Strategic Alliances Director based in Melbourne.

Formerly marketing and alliances manager at Sterling Commerce, Matthews has more than 12 years’ experience in the IT industry and was most recently responsible for driving Sterling Commerce’s alliance partner program with IBM Australia and delivering on lead generation programs in the retail, wholesale and distribution sectors.

Her initial geographical focus will include Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Prior to joining Sterling Commerce in 2005, Matthews established and managed her own marketing and events management company. During this time, she lead and managed direct marketing and lead generation progams for clients including Novatech Ventures, Peoplesoft, Axway and Eclipse Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.

Previously, she was Asia Pacific Marketing Manager for Vignette Corporation where she executed the vendor’s marketing programs across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan, including management of the organisation’s communications strategy, event programs and brand campaigns.  During this time, she developed the company’s go to market strategy within the financial services and government sectors and ran the Vignette Business and Investment forum featuring the former President Clinton in 2001.

Prior to that, she was Vignette’s Manager of Asia Pacific Alliances (Channel) Marketing where she built and implemented the organisation’s channel partner marketing strategy and drove successful relationships with IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Accenture and Fujitsu.

Matthews originally joined Vignette from Hewlett Packard where she held a number of roles, including Asia Pacific Customer Care Program Manager for the organisation’s Healthcare Solutions Group, Business Management Consultant and Regional ISO 9000 Quality Assurance Program Manager where she was responsible for defining and managing the Hewlett Packard ISO 9000 quality assurance program.
