Polycom to acquire SpectraLink E-mail

VoIP over Wireless specialist SpectraLink is set to be acquired by unified collaborative communications company Polycom for $US220 million, net of cash and debt.

Both boards have recommended shareholders accept the $US11.75 per share offer.

The acquisition seems to be a good fit. SpectraLink is very well established in the wireless IP telephony market, and its customer base includes important sectors such as retail, hospitality and healthcare.

For its part, Polycom is strong in voice, video and data collaboration systems for desktops and meeting rooms.

Last month, Polycom acquired telepresence solutions company Destiny Conferencing, and in October 2006 it unveiled a "business quality" Skype-compatible conference phone.{moscomment}
