Sydney Apple Store plans revealed E-mail

Plans and a rendering of Apple's forthcoming Sydney retail outlet - which will stock Macs, iPods, accessories, software and presumably the iPhone once it reaches Australia - have been published by a web site dedicated to Apple Store information. Planning department approval was received this week for the proposal.

ifo AppleStore says the new store, to be located on the corner of George and King Streets, will be a three-level affair with a glass facade very similar to that planned for Apple's Boston store. A three-metre Apple logo will be suspended behind the facade.

Although the address is given as 77 King Street, plans show the store fronting onto George Street.

The ground and first floors will be devoted to sales, with a service area incorporating the Genius Bar on the second floor. Apple's 'trademark' glass staircase will connect the three levels.

The plans imply Apple is leasing additional space at the rear of the building, including a storage area and a conference room. Whether the latter will be used for internal purposes or public activities such as training remains to be seen.{moscomment}
