Electronic Arts are in a happy mood.  Buoyed by recently finance reports and jumping on the Nintendo popularity wave, EA have announced extended support and high profile game line-up for the Wii and DS platform.

With Midas touch like franchises such as The Sims 2, Need for speed, Battle for Middle Earth, Madden, FIFA and The Godfather, EA is a powerful force in the gaming world.

Having posted a record Q4 2006 revenue of US$1.281 billion are pretty happy with how they are travelling

“We are pleased with the performance of our products on next-generation consoles," said Larry Probst, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "In the year ahead, we plan to build on our leadership position on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, and to significantly increase our support for the Nintendo platforms."

Gamasutra is featuring further comment by Probst in and around their plans for EA product on Nintendo platforms.  Probst revealed that EA is currently developing 15 titles for both the Wii and DS.  These included My Sims and Sim City as well as a version of Spore for the DS

Probst went on to say; “On the Nintendo platforms, we think that we can be a very strong number two. Clearly Nintendo will always be number one on the Wii and Nintendo DS, but we think we have a realistic goal of being number two, with a market share goal of 15-20 percent.”
