SYDNEY, 5 February, 2007 – Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced the appointment of Vivekanand Venugopal as director of Solutions and Products director for Asia Pacific. Vivekanand will play a key role in providing pre-sales teams across the region with best practices to help companies meet business needs by leveraging storage solutions from Hitachi Data Systems and its partners.
These storage solutions will help customers match business application requirements to Hitachi storage system attributes precisely to address performance, availability, and scalability. This will enable customers to boost business performance at lower cost of ownership. The solutions will deliver on Hitachi’s strategic initiatives including Tiered Storage, Storage Management, and Business Continuity, Content and File Services and Data Protection solutions. Vivekanand brings to the role strong technical expertise and a sound understanding of Hitachi Data Systems’ products, services and strategic software initiatives. He joined Hitachi Data Systems, India in 2001 as business development manager, and later handled sales across India. In 2004, he was responsible for driving the storage management solution business line across Asia Pacific. Prior to this role he was sales director, Software Solutions for Asia Pacific.
