Pacific Internet’s fast move into business grade 8mbps broadband E-mail
Thursday, 01 February 2007
Melbourne, 1 February 2007 – Pacific Internet (Australia), part of the Asia Pacific’s largest telco-independent communications service provider (CSP) by geographic reach, Pacific Internet Limited (NASDAQ: PCNTF), today announced the launch of its business grade DSL broadband and voice bundled plans with download speeds of up to 8mbps.

As part of their new PacNet Communicate product range, Pacific Internet has bundled broadband and voice solutions with generous data download allowances of up to 60GB and passed on significant price reductions.  Dennis Muscat, managing director of Pacific Internet Australia, said: “The demand for affordable high speed broadband for businesses has never been stronger. “With 92 per cent of internet-connected small and medium businesses (SMBs) using broadband, the market is maturing and is now dependent on customer loyalty. SMBs have told us that the overwhelming reasons for choosing an ISP are quality and reliability, followed by cost considerations and connection speeds. “Our new product range gives SMBs access to fast broadband without compromising service levels, giving businesses peace of mind that they won’t suffer debilitating downtimes or fall prey to high excess charges.” The PacNet Communicate range of solutions gives business and residential customers access to competitive fast broadband and voice bundles. “We’ve simplified our plans so SMBs can see exactly what their monthly voice and internet services will cost, allowing businesses to avoid broadband budget blowouts,” Mr Muscat said.  The PacNet Communicate broadband range starts at $29.95 per month with a 3GB download allowance, ranging to $129.95 per month for 8mbps business DSL with a 60GB download allowance when bundled with PacNet Voice plans. Mr Muscat said he anticipated the take-up of the faster speed broadband to be significant and that it would move Australian ISPs closer to our global neighbours in terms of speed. “Australian businesses and consumers have a propensity for technology adoption. There’s no reason fast-speed broadband won’t see the same take-up rates. What will differentiate providers will be the quality of service and performance they provide, as highlighted by SMBs in the Pacific Internet Broadband Barometer,” Mr Muscat concluded.     The 2006 Broadband Barometer, a survey of SMBs internet adoption and usage commissioned by Pacific Internet, found 92 per cent of internet-connected SMBs use broadband. The overwhelming reason cited by SMBs for choosing an ISP was quality / reliability of the service and network (52 per cent). The next most cited reasons for choosing an ISP were low cost (24 per cent) and speed of connection (9 per cent).  Mr Phey Teck Moh, President and CEO, Pacific Internet Limited, said: "PacNet has always focused on satisfying customers’ needs which has helped us to build a strong base of loyal customers. This new service is based on customers' feedback from our industry leading Broadband Barometer study."
