One of the contenders to take some of the World of Warcraft audience, has slipped to October.

Originally destined for a March release this year Eidos has announced that more time is needed to polish up this new entrant to the Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Game (MMORPG) arena, currently dominated by World of Warcraft and its recent expansion The Burning Crusade.

Age of Conan  : Hyborian Adventures, which is the full title of the release - is anticipated to bring a new level of visual treats to the MMORPG market.  Featuring Vista only DirectX 10 graphical features, and location specific damage during battles. Conan is expected to give extra immersion to the bloody world it is set.

"We believe that by spending even more time and effort polishing and enhancing the game we will ensure that the game reaches its full potential in terms of quality and subscriber base," said Trond Arne Aas, CEO at Funcom.  "We are confident that our fan base will appreciate this commitment to quality. The prolonged development time reflects our ambition to meet and exceed the expectations of our fans for this game."

October 30 is now the expected PC release date.

No word on the Xbox 360 release of this title as well.

So, dammit! We must wait until later in the year before dragging out our favorite Conan quotes for a online audience.

What is best in life?

To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
