The project was necessary in order for Centrelink to play its part in various Federal initiatives, and Cognos was selected for a range of reasons including its ability to operate within a service oriented architecture. Moving to a single BI tool will decrease training and support costs while providing access to consistent, accurate and timely information, the company claimed. "This win clearly underscores the ability of Cognos to address the needs large government agencies have to standardise on a single information access layer, and further validates the long-term commitment Cognos has made to support the business intelligence and performance management needs of our Australian Government customers," said Lesley French, Cognos's Vice President A/NZ.{moscomment}
