Cognos wins Federal contract

Centrelink, an Australian government agency, has opted for Cognos business intelligence software as part of a project aimed at improving information accessibility for its 29,000 staff and reducing operational costs. Centrelink delivers various community services including social security payments through a network of shopfronts, call centres and the web. The project was necessary in order for Centrelink to play its part in various Federal initiatives, and Cognos was selected for a range of reasons including its ability to operate within a service oriented architecture. Moving to a single BI tool will decrease training and support costs while providing access to consistent, accurate and timely information, the company claimed.
