Game Developers Conference to be platform for Nintendo's Miyamoto E-mail
by Mike Bantick
Tuesday, 23 January 2007
The game developer behind such well-known Nintendo franchises as Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda will make his first keynote speech since 1999.  As Nintendo's senior MD riding high on Wii / DS power, it is great timing to press the flesh with his adoring fans.

The GDC this year will feature a number of gaming luminaries gracing its keynote stage.  CEO of id software (Doom, Quake) Todd Hollenshead will discuss gaming piracy. Fantastic storyteller himself Warren Spector (Deus Ex) will discuss the future of game story telling. And Scott Kirkland, Technical director of Evolution studios will focus on the increased dependence on "physics" in games.  Top of his example list will undoubtable be Evolutions PS3 title MotorStorm.

But, undoubtedly the biggest crowd will be drawn to Shigeru Miyamoto in a session titled 'A Creative Vision'.  Executive director of the GDC Jamil Moledina had this expectation of the talk; "The Game Developers Conference is a place for developers to learn from one another, and I think it is safe to say that every member of the community has at one time or another fantasised about having Shigeru Miyamoto as a mentor and teacher",

"By guiding us through his creative vision with a keynote at this year's GDC, Miyamoto is allowing all attendees this incomparable privilege."

I imagine there will be many people (rivals) taking notes as the GDC gets underway in San Francisco from March 5th through 9th
