The Senetas/id Quantique system avoids this possibility by taking advantage of quantum physics to detect any interference with a key transmitted using individual photons along a fibre optic link. The companies have successfully combined id Quantique's quantum encryption system with Senetas' high speed network encryptors. "Speed to market is critical in this business and both organisations have made great progress in a relatively short period, completing our software re-design and integration with our partner’s software before final testing of each hardware device," said Senetas CEO John DuBois. "These techniques are particularly applicable for high value applications and long term secure data retention requirements," the company said in a written statement. "With this joint development, quantum cryptography is now compatible with the requirements of high-speed networks and is ready for large scale deployment.
