Apple has finally broken through the stiff line of resistance to iTunes movie downloads from movie studios to sign up its first partnership with a major studio other than Disney, where Steve Jobs is a major shareholder.
Announcing Paramount as a new iTunes partner,
Steve Jobs in his keynote address at Macworld 2007, said that movie
download sales of 1.3 million in the first four months had exceeded all
expectations. The addition of Paramount to the iTunes stable of movie
suppliers dramatically expands Apple's portfolio of downloads.
“We're thrilled because they have some awesome movies," said Jobs.
"We are going to be moving up from the hundred movies we've offered so
far to over 250 movies. We hope to be adding even more movies as other
studios throw in with us as 2007 rolls on." {moscomment}
