Apple bug fixers decline coordination offer E-mail
by Stephen Withers
Monday, 08 January 2007

Landon Fuller has turned down the offer of coordination made by LMH of the Month of Apple Bugs project.

Consequently, the MoAB Fixes group will not receive advance notification of future disclosures by MoAB.

Writing in his blog, Fuller said "I think that I will have to respectfully decline LMH's offer of coordination. I genuinely appreciate the gesture of goodwill, but I don't feel that it is the right thing to do. I know some of you will disagree with me (and some will agree) -- but upon further reflection, I can't personally compromise the ethical point, though the offer may make my life easier."

In related news, a new version of the MoAB Fixes APE patches Mac OS X's CoreGraphics library to guard against denial of service attacks using the PDF vulnerability previously disclosed by LMH. According to Fuller, "The patch prevents the proof-of-concept PDF from locking up any application that uses the CoreGraphics PDF library, including Safari and Mail.app."{moscomment}
