VLC player patched promptly E-mail

As we predicted, a patch protecting the VLC media player against the flaw disclosed in Month of Apple Bugs #2 was quickly released.

The VideoLAN team released a source code patch overnight, and promised that "Updated binaries for Windows and MacOS X will be published within the next few hours," while "Linux and BSD users should get relevant software upgrades from their respective distribution/OS vendor."

An alternative and unofficial patch has been offered by Landon Fuller ("more for completeness than necessity") as part of his plan to release Application Enhancer modules providing interim protection against possible exploits of bugs publicised by the MoAB project until the affected programs are updated.{moscomment}
