Which brings us neatly to the enemies; rather blandly labelled “locusts” they range from muscular grunts that early in the game can be confused with team mates, right up to huge room filling creatures of insectioid design,  There are many others of varying speed, brains and power, you will be on your steel capped toes right from the get go.

Weapon design is varied with the coup-de-grace being the ‘hammer of dawn’, a satellite weapon that can be called down when outside.  Of course the most fun however is the chainsaw equipped Lancer rifle.

Generally it is hard to fault the GoW experience, it is just another shooter, but with exceptional level design, Artificial Intelligence of both enemy and comrades, more grit than a coal mine and a cinematic feel second to none, calling it ‘just another shooter’ is truly a disservice.
If you have a Wii, you will get Zelda: Twilight Princess, if you have a Xbox 360, and you are…. Ahem! … older than 15, then you will have to get Gears of War.
