Web content creators kings of 2006 says Time E-mail

In an admission that the power of spreading information has shifted from big media to the people, Time magazine has named bloggers and other web content creators, collectively referred to as "You", as its "Person of the Year" for 2006.

Instead of gracing the magazine cover with an individual, this year's issue of Time features a keyboard and a mirror.

Time refers to the ability of people to post information to YouTube, MySpace and Wikipedia and in the process wresting power from the few and helping one another for nothing.

The article also refers to the ability of individuals in locations as diverse as Baghdad to nightclubs to capture incidents such as roadside bombings and comedians having racist rants and posting them to the net.

The story is in itself the ultimate irony as Time magazine is itself part of the old media. {moscomment}
